NIA Apprehends Head Of Thrissur-Based ISIS Module In Chennai

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) caught Siyed Nabeel Ahammed in Chennai on September 6; he was the leader (Ameer) of the Islamic State’s Thrissur-based module.

The NIA’s Fugitive Tracking Team caught Ahammed after he moved between hiding places in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. He had been trying to avoid being caught.

The central office found out that he wanted to leave the country using fake travel documents and Nepal as a stopover.

After getting specific information, the NIA’s team worked hard on the case for a few weeks until they found the suspect in Chennai.

During the arrest, papers and digital devices that could be used to prove Ahammed’s guilt were taken from him. He is being charged in a case in Kochi.

Ashif, who is also known as Mathilakath Kodayil Ashraf, was found hiding near Sathyamangalam, Tamil Nadu, in July of this year. He was caught there.

Several parts of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act were used to file a case against him.

During the probe, it was found that the Islamic State module in Thrissur had been planning terrorist attacks in Kerala. They had even done a test run and raised money to make their plans come true.

The NIA says that the Islamic State is doing more in India by setting up cells in different states and recruiting young people who believe in the Jihadi philosophy.

In an earlier terror case, it was already known that Ahammed was involved. He was named as the third person on trial in that case.

As the probe goes on, more details about the plans for the Thrissur module will be found.

The NIA’s newly formed Fugitive Tracking Team is reportedly looking for a number of people who are on the run in relation to cases in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka. People think that a solution will happen soon.
