A statement released on Tuesday said that the Indian Army’s Kharga Corps, which is based in Ambala, did a big training operation in Punjab this month.
The Defence Wing said that the latest operational ideas, such as using attack helicopters to help ground forces, operations deep across the enemy’s obstacle systems, using high-tech drones as force multipliers, fighting in terrain full of obstacles, sustained operations deep inside enemy territory by forces, and heli-borne operations, were tested and proved to work.
From May 11 to May 27, the exercise also included joint training with the Indian Air Force for operations in enemy territory across Western borders, drops of special troops behind enemy lines, and simulated air strikes on the battlefield.
The exercise was a success because it confirmed many important operational aspects and taught the forces on the Western Front useful lessons. It also made sure that they were very ready for operations.
