Wings Of Fire: Inspiring Journey Of A BSF Soldier’s Daughter From Kashmir, Set To Join IAF As Flying Officer
- Akriti Sharma's mother, Neeru Sharma, said that she had always wanted to join the police force like her father did.
- Local sarpanch Prithpal Singh said that the village and all of Jammu and Kashmir are happy that she was chosen.
Akriti Sharma, who is 23 years old and from this hilly area of Jammu and Kashmir, will join the Indian Air Force as a flying officer next month. She was inspired to do this by her father, who was a head constable in the Border Security Force. Sharma is from a small town called Magani. The road to Magani goes through one of the army’s northern command units in Udhampur. She said that her folks and the National Credit Corps (NCC) helped her pass the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT).
“Soon, I’ll be an under-training flying officer at the IAF Hyderabad Academy. Sharma, who is ready to make her dreams come true, says, “When I finish my training, I will be commissioned as a flying officer in the IAF.” Sharma went to Kendriya Vidyalaya for school and then got her degree from the Government College for Women in Udhampur.
She said, “When I was in college, I joined the NCC and went to a number of camps. These camps were important to me and helped me pass the AFCAT.” Sharma said that as a member of the NCC, she marched in the Republic Day Parade and represented the country in Vietnam as part of a youth exchange program.
“I have to thank my folks and friends for everything. My parents have always been there for me and given me all the help I needed. “My dad is in the BSF and is currently stationed in Assam. He has always encouraged me to set a goal and work hard to reach it,” she said. Sharma said that she had also passed the interview with the Navy Service Selection Board, but she chose to join the IAF instead.
Sharma said that young people should “come out and try to reach their goals without looking back.” He said that many places in Udhampur aren’t well-developed and that children don’t have enough resources. Akriti Sharma’s mother, Neeru Sharma, said that she had always wanted to join the police force like her father did.
“We always helped her, and I’m glad she reached her goal,” she said, asking all parents, boy or girl, to help their kids reach their goals. The neighbors are also happy for her and proud of her success. They think she is a great role model for young people, especially girls.
Local sarpanch Prithpal Singh said that the village and all of Jammu and Kashmir are happy that she was chosen. “She studied for the test in a town where the power goes out often. “She is a great role model for young people,” he said. Singh said that Sharma’s success shows that someone from a village with only basic facilities can fight with someone from a big city with better facilities if they work hard and try their best.
