Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said on Friday that everyone has always agreed on the goal of complete self-reliance, no matter what their beliefs are, and that India’s defense industry is also meeting the security needs of close countries.

During the meeting, members of the committee from both Houses of Parliament were told about the steps taken by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to reach “Aatmanirbharta” in defense and the progress made so far as a result of the decisions.

The Minister talked about how the government is always working to make the country safer and give the Armed Forces the latest technology so they can deal with “challenges arising from the constantly changing global scenario.”

He said that “demand assurance” is one of the most important ways to make sure that the country is self-sufficient. He also said that a number of choices have been made to reach this goal.

Among these are a constant rise in the defense budget, which includes spending on capital projects, setting aside a record 75% of the defense capital procurement budget for domestic companies in the financial year 2023–2024, and putting out a list of good examples of indigenization.

Singh said that the choices made by the government have started to pay off, and that the country is now making its own submarines, fighter jets, helicopters, and weapons.

He also said that the rising defense industry not only meets the needs of the country, but also meets the security needs of countries that are friendly with the country.

“In the last financial year, we made more than Rs 1,000,000 in defense goods and sent over Rs 16,000,000,000 abroad. Singh was described in the news release as saying, “This shows that the defense sector and the country as a whole are on the right track.”

The Minister liked that everyone has always agreed that the goal of being completely self-sufficient should be reached, no matter what their beliefs were.

“If we want India to be a defense exporter instead of a defense importer, we must stand together with the idea of “Nation First” in every case. We won’t be able to reach the goal of “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” until then, he said.

During the discussion, the members of the committee made some good ideas. The Minister liked them and said that he would try to use them, according to the release.

It said that Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, Secretary (Ex-Servicemen Welfare) Vijoy Kumar Singh, and Secretary, Department of Defence R&D and Chairman, DRDO, Samir V Kamat were also at the meeting.
