Indian Army To Test Indigenous Drone Prowess At High Altitudes In Leh

Story Highlights
  • Both events show that the Indian Army is dedicated to developing indigenous solutions that can be used on high-altitude battlefields.
  • The HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2 and HIMTECH-2024 events will not only make the military more ready, but they will also help India become a world leader in technology and drone manufacturing.

With two big events, HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2 and HIMTECH-2024, the Indian Army is getting better at defending itself along the Line of Actual Control (LAC). The goal of these events is to use cutting-edge drone and military technology for operations at high altitudes. This will help India become the strategic leader in the Himalayas’ rough terrain.

The Indian Army is putting on two groundbreaking events, HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2 and HIMTECH-2024, that will push military technology for operations at high altitudes to new heights. The Indian drone industry will have a great chance to show off cutting-edge solutions that can work in the harsh conditions of India’s northern mountain borders at these events.

At HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2, which will be held at Wari La near Leh from September 17th to 18th, 2024, more than 25 Indian drone manufacturers will show off their products in real high-altitude battlefield conditions at elevations of 4,000 to 5,000 meters.

Drones that carry electronic warfare and communication intelligence, spy drones, logistics drones, swarm drones, and drones that fly in groups will all be put to the test in this competition.

Through these tests, the Indian Army will be able to see how they deal with the unique problems they face when stationed in places like the rough Himalayas and the cold Siachen Glacier.

Major General CS Mann, Additional Director General of the Army Design Bureau, said, “Tailormade, indigenous solutions are the way forward for drones that can survive freezing temperatures, rare atmospheres, and engines that don’t work as well.” If these companies do well, they could make India a major player in drone technology and take Indian manufacturers to the global level.

After the drone show, HIMTECH-2024 will take place in Leh on September 20 and 21. This will be the first time the event has been held in this important location.

Together with FICCI, HIMTECH-2024 will look into the newest military technologies, focussing on unmanned systems, self-driving mobility solutions, and advanced soldier systems made for high-altitude areas near the northern borders.

This event aims to make Leh a growing centre for technology development, business, and education, in addition to its military uses. Modern tools will be shown to attendees, some of which could be used by civilians in rough terrain areas like the Union Territory of Ladakh.

A PLATFORM FOR NEW IDEAS

Both events show that the Indian Army is dedicated to developing indigenous solutions that can be used on high-altitude battlefields. These programs also give Indian businesses a chance to show off new technologies that might be popular around the world.

The HIM-DRONE-A-THON 2 and HIMTECH-2024 events will not only make the military more ready, but they will also help India become a world leader in technology and drone manufacturing.
