Budgetary Constraints, India Made Significant Efforts: US Report On Terrorism
- Rehabilitation and reintegration programmes for Indians who have joined terrorist or violent extremist groups on its territory are run at the state or local level, the report said.

According to an annual report from the US bureau on counterterrorism, the Indian government put in a lot of work in 2021 to find, stop, and weaken terrorist groups. The report said that terrorists might change how they attack civilians and rely more on IEDs, such as when they use drones to drop explosives in the technical area of Jammu Air Force Station in June 2021.
The report says that some of the terrorist groups in India are Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Hizbul Mujahideen, ISIS, al-Qa’ida, Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh.
“Country Reports on Terrorism 2021: India” said, “India responds quickly to US requests for information related to terrorism investigations and tries to reduce threats in response to US information.”
India increased the number of state-level multi-agency centres to make it easier for state and federal agencies to share intelligence. However, there were no changes to India’s terrorism laws in 2021.
The report also talked about the budget, staffing, and equipment problems that Indian law enforcement agencies have to deal with. Even though the ability to patrol and secure the country’s long land and sea borders is getting better, it’s still not enough given how long the country’s coastline is.
In Jammu and Kashmir, there were 153 terrorist attacks reported in 2021. These attacks killed 274 people: 45 security guards, 36 civilians, and 193 terrorists.
“India does not have a policy to bring back foreign terrorist fighters or their families, and it has turned down the request of four Indian citizens who were married to Indian ISIS fighters in Afghanistan to bring them back to India. Rehabilitation and reintegration programmes for Indians who have joined terrorist or violent extremist groups on its territory are run at the state or local level, the report said.
To stop people from becoming “radicalised,” the Indian Army runs schools, training programmes, recruitment drives, medical camps, and emergency services in Jammu and Kashmir.
