8 Naxalites Killed In Intense Encounter With Security Forces In Chhattisgarh
- Police say that on April 16, 29 Naxalites were killed by security troops during a shootout in Kanker district.
- Seven Naxalites were killed when they ran into police in the border area of the Narayanpur-Bijapur district.
As many as eight Naxalites have been killed in a fight between Naxals and security forces that began on Thursday in a forest near the border between Narayanpur and Bijapur in Chhattisgarh.
He said that about eight weapons, including guns and bullets, were found on them. The shooting that began on May 21 began in the morning, when a Special Task Force (STF) team was coming back from an operation against Naxals.
After the fight on Thursday, security staff were going back to their base when Naxalites opened fire on an STF patrolling team, starting a gunfight that continued into Friday morning.
The official said that after the gunfire stopped, the body of a Naxalite in “uniform” was found at the scene. They are still waiting for more information.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai had earlier praised the security forces and said that his government was firmly opposed to Naxalism after the incident.

As of this morning, 113 Naxalites have been killed this year in separate clashes with security troops in the state.
On April 30, ten Naxalites, three of whom were women, were killed when they were attacked by police in a bush near the border of Narayanpur and Kanker districts.

Police said that 12 Naxalites were killed in a gun fight on May 10 near Pidia village in Bijapur district. But activists and villagers in the area said that the people killed near Pidia were not Naxalites and that the incident was fake.
