BSF Jawan Martyred In Blast Allegedly Triggered by Maoists In Bastar’s Kanker

Police say that Maoists set off an IED that killed a Border Security Force (BSF) head constable in Bastar’s Kanker district on Thursday.

A statement from the Bastar police says the event happened near the village of Sadaktola, which is under the jurisdiction of the Partapur police station.

“When the blast happened, a team from the BSF and the district police force was out on patrol together.” Maoists set off an explosion that hurt 45-year-old head constable Akhilesh Rai. A senior police officer said, “He was given initial care and sent to Pakhanjur for further medical care, but he died from his injuries.”

The police said Rai was from Uttar Pradesh.

This is the second death like this in two days. One Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) jawan was killed and another was hurt when Maoists attacked a group of security guards and set off a bomb in Narayanpur district on Wednesday.
