Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a defence public sector undertaking (PSU), has executed a teaming agreement with Reliasat Inc, a Canadian company, to engage in collaborative efforts in the space sector.
This agreement signifies BEL’s entry into the space product market, which is consistent with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make-in-India initiatives.
K.V. Suresh Kumar, Director (Marketing) of BEL, and Gurvinder Chohan, CEO of Reliasat Inc, signed the partnership agreement at BEL’s corporate office in Bengaluru.
The objective of the partnership is to capitalise on the respective strengths of both organisations in order to create cutting-edge space products and establish a substantial presence in the space sector.
Reliasat is a company that specialises in the development of next-generation telecommunications satellites, with an emphasis on the provision of cost-effective satellite solutions. The company’s advanced satellites are equipped with AI and ML capabilities, which facilitate high-capacity internet connectivity from space.
BEL is a public sector aerospace and defence electronics company in India that specialises in the production of advanced electronic products for aerospace and ground applications. BEL has been granted Navratna status, which underscores its importance in the industry, as one of sixteen PSUs under the Ministry of Defence of India.
