The Indian Army has sent a military contingent to Cambodia to participate in the second edition of the bilateral exercise CINBAX-II, reinforcing defence engagement between the two countries.
The exercise will be conducted from May 4 to May 17, 2026, at a key training facility in Cambodia. It is designed to enhance cooperation between the Indian Army and the Royal Cambodian Army through structured joint training activities.
This edition of CINBAX focuses on sub-conventional operations, particularly counter-terrorism missions in challenging environments such as jungle and semi-urban terrain. Troops from both sides will engage in coordinated drills, tactical planning exercises, and simulated combat scenarios aimed at improving real-time decision-making and operational efficiency.
The Indian contingent includes around 120 personnel, while Cambodia has deployed a slightly larger force for the exercise. Both sides will exchange operational experiences and adopt best practices to tackle modern security threats.
CINBAX-II highlights the steady expansion of defence ties between India and Cambodia. It also reflects India’s broader strategy to enhance military partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region through regular joint exercises and defence diplomacy initiatives.
The first edition of this exercise was held in India, and the continuation of the drill signifies growing mutual trust and commitment to regional stability.
Defence officials believe that such collaborative exercises play an important role in strengthening military readiness and improving coordination in joint operations, especially in the context of evolving global security challenges.
