The 15-day joint military exercise DUSTLIK between India and Uzbekistan ended on Sunday in Uttarkhand’s Pithoragarh. Officials said that India and Uzbekistan showed their combat power and dominance and learned how to fight multi-domain operations in non-conventional scenarios.
This was the fourth time the DUSTLIK exercise, which means “friendship” in Uzbek, was done.
The public relations officer for Defence in Dehradun, Lt. Col. Manish Shrivastava, said that the exercise gave both armies a chance to train in non-conventional operations in a joint setting under the United Nations Charter. “Both countries want to get rid of terrorism and make the world more peaceful.
Exercise between India and Uzbekistan is a chance for the two armies to work together and share and learn tactics, techniques, and procedures. “The main goal of this 15-day exercise was to share operational knowledge and make it easier for the armies of the two countries to work together,” he said.
Col. Anuj Tyagi, who is in charge of the 14 Garhwal Rifles, said, “Both groups of troops went through combat conditioning and tactical training, which included shooting drills and “battle hardening” work sessions. The Uzbek contingent taught the Indian contingent how to run operations and do drills, and vice versa.
A country presentation was also given so that the two countries could learn about each other’s geography, history, people-to-people ties, and relationships in trade, economics, defence, and other fields.
“During the validation exercise, both countries worked together to destroy a terrorist training camp and get rid of a rebel group. Throughout the whole exercise, the Indian and Uzbek Armed Forces showed the highest levels of professionalism, tactical knowledge, and military discipline, which was praised by all the dignitaries. “The exercise ended with a big ceremony where both countries shared some of their most important cultural traditions so they could learn about each other’s values and customs,” he said.
The head of the Uzbekistan Army delegation, Col. Ismail, thanked India for running Exercise Dustlik 2023 in the most professional way. He said that the Uzbek Army has learned a lot from this training exercise and from the Indian Army soldiers’ many years of service. Lt. Col. Sherzod Gafuroh, who is in charge of the Uzbekistan Army contingent, said that the camaraderie, goodwill, and friendship that were built during this exercise will be taken to new heights in the future.
