India has expressed serious concern following the reported attack targeting the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) described the incident as alarming and warned that attacks involving nuclear infrastructure could have dangerous regional consequences.
According to reports, drones targeted an area near the Barakah facility located in the Al Dhafra region of the UAE. Emirati authorities stated that emergency response teams quickly brought the situation under control and confirmed that there was no radiation leak or damage to the plant’s reactors.
In its statement, India stressed that nuclear facilities should never be targeted during conflicts or military confrontations. New Delhi also called on all sides to exercise restraint and avoid any further escalation that could affect peace and stability in West Asia.
The Barakah Nuclear Power Plant is the first operational nuclear energy facility in the Arab world and plays a major role in the UAE’s long-term energy and clean power strategy. The incident has once again raised international concerns over the security of critical infrastructure in conflict-prone regions.
India, which maintains close strategic and economic ties with the UAE, is closely monitoring the situation. Experts believe the attack could further increase tensions in the Gulf region and raise concerns over the growing use of drones in modern warfare.
