Canada And India Agree To Cooperation On Defense

India and Canada have decided to work on taking their Defense Relationship to the next level and making defense an important part of their Bilateral Relationship. The Canadian Defense Minister, Anita Anand, and the Indian Defense Minister, Rajnath Singh, talked on the phone.

The two leaders talked about how to improve their countries’ defense ties in a way that shows their democracy values and their shared interest in peace and security in the Indo-Pacific. Singh was happy to hear that Canada was sending more ships to the Indo-Pacific area.

Both Ministers also talked about possible ways to work together on defense, such as training for UN peacekeepers and Defense Industrial Cooperation. Mr. Singh said that India is a good place to make defense equipment because its land and labor costs are low and it has two defense industrial routes.

He also asked Canadian defense firms to invest in India and work together to make things. Ms. Anita Anand told him about Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy and how important it is to improve relationships with India.
