Ukraine Shoots Down Own Drone Over Kiev After ‘Losing Control’

The Ukrainian Air Force admitted that it shot down one of its own drones after “losing control” of it over central Kiev.

On Thursday night, there were blasts for about 15 to 20 minutes as air defense tried to shoot down the drone near the President’s office.

In a statement, the air force said that the Bayraktar TB2 UAV had lost control during a planned flight in the Kiev area around 8 p.m.

It also said that it had decided to shoot it down because “having uncontrolled UAVs in the sky of the capital could lead to bad things.”

The falling drone didn’t hurt anyone or kill anyone.

“It’s too bad, but technology is what it is, and things like this happen. “It’s probably a technical problem, but the reasons are still being looked into,” the statement said.

Serhiy Popko, the head of the city’s military administration, said that a fire was put out in the building where the drone crashed in the Solomyanskyi district, west of the city center.

Russia had just said that Ukraine used a drone to attack the Kremlin on Wednesday, with the goal of killing President Vladimir Putin, who was not in the building at the time. This event happened after that accusation.

Thursday, Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Kremlin, said that the US was “undoubtedly” behind the claimed attack, but he didn’t give any proof.

John Kirby, a spokesman for the US Department of National Security, said it was a “ludicrous claim” in reaction.

Ukraine has said that it had nothing to do with the supposed attack on the Kremlin and has said that Moscow set up the attack to make the war worse.
