Visakhapatnam was one of the places where the Royal Navy ship HMS Tamar stopped.
On Saturday, the ship’s crew of 17 people went to the NGO Campus Challenge center in Kotha Kopperla, Pusapatirega mandal, Vizianagaram district. The sailors talked to children and teens with disabilities and played cricket and basketball with them. They also planted trees and painted the dorms.
The UK’s Integrated Review says that the HMS Tamar is one of two Royal Navy ships that will stay in the Indo-Pacific for a long time. The ship is currently in India, which is a chance to make the shared maritime domain awareness effort even stronger. It also shows that the UK and India want to work together in the Indian Ocean Region and the wider Indo-Pacific.
British Deputy High Commissioner to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Gareth Wynn Owen said, “HMS Tamar’s trip to Visakhapatnam shows how important our defense and security relationship with India is to us.” The growth and prosperity of the world will be driven by the Indo-Pacific and India. It is important for trade, security, and shared values that it stays free and open to everyone.
