Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) drill Tiger Triumph-24 is being held by India and the US on the Eastern Seaboard from March 18th to March 31st.
The harbor phase will take place in Visakhapatnam, and the sea part will take place in Kakinada. A “friendly island nation” will be used as a model for the exercise, where troops will carry out amphibious landing operations.
From March 18th to March 25th, 2024, the harbor phase is set to happen. “Injected situations” would be used in maritime, amphibious, and HADR actions after the harbor phase was over. The ships would then set sail for the sea phase with the troops on board.
It has been learned that the troops will set up a camp to help internally displaced people where the training camps will be.
A joint center for troops from both countries will be set up during the drill so that they can share information and better coordinate operations.
Sources in the defense and security establishment said that the exercise’s main goals are to improve interoperability, strengthen bilateral relations, and make the military better at humanitarian help and unconventional operations.
The Indian Navy is made up of ships that have helicopters, landing boats, and planes built right in. People and vehicles from the Indian Army will take part in the drill.
Along with the Rapid Action Medical Team (RAMT), the Indian Air Force will send its planes and helicopters. The United States will send military ships with US Marine Corps troops to take part. The US Army is also taking part in the drill.
In a press release, the Indian Navy said that the drill was meant to improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and build interoperability for disaster relief operations. This would allow the forces of both countries to work together quickly and easily.
