The Russian Defense Ministry said that in 2023, the Russian Army will take part in about nine international military exercises. The Defense Ministry said this on Sunday, as the war between Russia and Ukraine was getting worse. According to Sputnik, the Ministry also said that Russia would hold around eight bilateral activities on the training grounds of the Russian military district, in addition to nine international military exercises.
In order to improve international military cooperation in the New Year, the Ministry said, “As part of international military cooperation, it is planned to hold joint exercises in 2023 with units of the ground forces of the Russian armed forces and units of the national armies of foreign states.”
The Ministry then said, “Outside of Russia, the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) peacekeeping contingents will hold a joint exercise called “Indestructible Brotherhood-2023″ in Armenia.” Russian and Indian multi-service force drills, called Indra-2023 drills, will also be part of the joint exercises.
There will also be joint military anti-terrorist command and staff exercises with the members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), a joint military exercise between Russia and Laos, and joint military drills in the Central Asian Region in 2023.
Exercises will focus on peacekeeping and combating terrorism: Defence Ministry
Russia wants to get rid of illegal armed groups in the area through these joint military deals. The Ministry also said that Moscow will look for ways to use these joint military deals to fight terrorism. “All of the exercises will be about keeping the peace and fighting terrorism,” the Ministry said.
