Villagers in the town of Dera Baba Nanak found the drone while they were picking crops in the field.
Earlier on Thursday, members of the BSF caught a Pakistani drone near the town of Bhariyal in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab. At the BSF post in the town of Bhariyal, the drone was seen flying in Indian airspace for five minutes before it was shot down with light bombs.
“The drone flew inside Indian territory for five minutes, during which time BSF fired three rounds and dropped an Ilu bomb. The drone then flew back to Pakistan,” BSF said.
In a similar situation, on April 16, BSF officers caught a Pakistani drone near Dhanoe Kalan in the Amritsar area and found packets of drugs.
The BSF is in charge of protecting the 3,323 km International Border between India and Pakistan.
The paramilitary force BSF said that a Pakistani drone carrying illegal goods was shot down in Amritsar on March 28. This happened soon after the drone crossed into Indian soil.
When BSF troops in Amritsar heard the drone’s buzzing sound, they were able to shoot it down. It was found the next morning by the border guarding force while they were looking for something else. The drone came from Pakistan and was found near Border Outpost Rajatal in the Amritsar Sector, according to the Border Security Force (BSF).
In February, BSF troops also found a bag with 6.275 kg of heroin in it in a wheat field near Toor village in the Amritsar district. The bag was inside six large packs of heroin.
