Operation Continues In J-K’s Rajouri For Second Day Amid Fresh Firing

Police and terrorists are still fighting in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district. The fighting started again on Thursday morning, making it the second day in a row. During an incident on Wednesday, up to four Army soldiers were killed and two badly hurt.

Police say that new firing started this morning in the Bajimaal area of the Dharmsal belt after a break over the night. Overnight, the area was blocked off, and more security staff were sent in to make sure that terrorists involved in the encounter could not get away. The area has a lot of trees.

The difficult terrain of the Reasi-Rajouri-Poonch region and the lack of road connections are making it hard to carry out the operation. “Isolated dhoks (huts made of mud) in villages nestled in the mountains make the civilian population, particularly women and children, vulnerable to terrorists” , a policeman said.

4 security personnel killed, 2 injured in Rajouri

Wednesday, during a cordon-and-search operation in the Bajimaal area, the fight broke out. Based on what the sources say, two captains—Captain MV Pranjal and Captain Shubham and Havildar Maji—were killed in the battle. The identity of the fourth security guard has not yet been found.

During the fight, Major Mehra and another soldier were hurt. The hurt people have been taken to the Army’s Command Hospital in Udhampur.

The Army’s White Knight Corps wrote on X that joint operations began on Sunday in the Kalakote area of the Gulabgarh forest in Rajouri based on specific intelligence.

“Contact was made on November 22, and a fierce firefight began.” Terrorists have been hurt and are being surrounded, and operations are still going on. “Women and children are being protected by acts of bravery and sacrifice that are in line with the highest traditions of the Indian Army,” it said.
