The Indian Army has received 159 vehicles and other pieces of equipment made in India as part of the Make in India programme. These vehicles are for UN peacekeeping missions with the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei.
The vehicles will help the Indian Army do better in UN peacekeeping missions around the world. The move is part of a plan to give Indian troops the best weapons and gear in the world.
Indian makers are now making a number of new weapons. In the past few years, the government’s Make in India programme has led to a number of policy changes, including the design and development of projects like Kamov Ka-31 helicopters.

This is an effort by the Indian government to encourage companies to develop, make, and assemble products in India and to encourage companies to put money into manufacturing. The goal of the policy procedure was to create a good environment for investments. Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in the defence sector is allowed only through the government. This will help the defence industries work with foreign vendors and import and make the technology they need to give India’s armed forces modern weapons that will help them adapt to changing war situations around the world.
Also, making it easier to get a licence to make arms locally will help the vendors do research and work with big companies, which will help them make Indian weapons for the Indian military. Also, the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives have helped defence production in India by starting programmes called “innovations for defence excellence” that involve startups and “micro, small, and medium enterprises” (MSMEs).
The government has also asked many top institutes to research and develop new advanced weapons technology for modern warfare and to equip the Indian Armed Forces so that they are better prepared and equipped for future conflicts. Two defence industrial corridors have been set up in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu for the same reason.
The government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been trying to turn India into a global centre for designing and making advanced weapons. This has led to the sharing of global technologies, equipment, and the transfer of those technologies, as well as the launch of global initiatives by individual states and the ease of doing business.
The main industries that fall into this category are defence, automobiles, electricals, pharmaceuticals, railways, ports, and equipment.
As active members of UN peacekeeping missions, India’s troops have been constantly sent to different parts of the world. So it takes time for equipment from foreign vendors to reach the Indian troops. After the Indian government started the Make in India initiative, the Indian military has been using equipment and weapons made in India to speed up its modernization programme.
It is the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA), and it is for a region that is disputed between the Republic of Sudan and the Republic of South Sudan. It was approved by the United Nations Security Council on June 27, 2011, in resolution 1990, after the South Kordofan conflict got worse earlier in June 2011. The Ethiopian army has sent the most people.
