The light combat planes The Tejas is a fast airplane made in India. The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) program was started by the Indian government in 1984. It led to the creation of the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) to oversee its growth.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited was in charge of designing and building the plane. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who was Prime Minister at the time, publicly named the plane “Tejas” in 2003. The name means “radiance” in Sanskrit. It is HAL’s second supersonic fighter jet. The first one was the HAL HF-24 Marut.
A Hawk trainer plane from the Indian Air Force had a crash earlier this month while it was on a training mission in West Bengal. The plane went down in a residential area close to the Kalaikunda Air Force Station. But no one was hurt or killed, and no private property was damaged. Both pilots got out of the plane safely.
