Flying Wedge Defence Launches Bangalore’s First Unmanned Aircraft Manufacturing Platform

Flying Wedge Defence and Aerospace, based in Bangalore, started a state-of-the-art facility with ELCIA to build unmanned aircraft and drones. India’s biggest electronics company, Tescom, has joined the consortium to make all of its products in India. The amount of money put into this manufacturing project is 100 crores. The company said that they research, design, develop, and make UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) in INDIA.

The building has a Research division, a Mechanical manufacturing division, and Electronics manufacturing facilities like SMT lines, laser Etching, PCB fabrication, milling, motor winding machines, CNC laser cutting, WEDM, and other industrial grade machines. There are different kinds of testing equipment, such as an automatic optical inspection, and a NABL-certified lab for different kinds of tests.

Drones are worth about $6 billion in India and $30 billion around the world. Today, all UAS and drone makers have no choice but to bring in parts made by children and put them together in India. India’s government said that foreign drones could not be brought in. Start-ups in the UAV space are getting a lot of help. After this ban, there aren’t enough drones to go around. DJI, which used to be the first company to make drones, can no longer do business in INDIA.

Type Certification should be done on more drones so that they can be used in India.

It’s a shame that all companies that make drones have to import them already partially put together.

For example, most people who use drones or make them import EFT 610 P drones from China in a semi-assembled state to use in agriculture.

“Our main goal was to make advanced drone catchers, killer unmanned aircraft, and long-range surveillance helicopters for the military. In the next two years, Flying Wedge will make 2 lakh kisan drones. We will make drones and unmanned planes for all businesses in India and the rest of the world. Suhas Tejaskanda, CEO of Flying Wedge Defence, says, “We want to give PM Modi’s dream of Atma Nirbhar Bharat new wings in the defence and aerospace sectors.”

The company wants to be India’s top drone service provider and is putting more of an emphasis on women entrepreneurs from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. During the Bandhan Event at AeroIndia 2023, Flying Wedge Defense and the Government of Karnataka signed an MOU worth 100 crores.
