Brahmos Missile Will Destroy The Enemy In Just 7 Minutes, Orders Are Being Received From All Over The World

The BrahMos missile is a supersonic cruise missile jointly developed by the Indian Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and NPO Mashinostroyenia of Russia. The name BrahMos of the missile is derived from the names of two rivers. In which one includes India’s Brahmaputra and the other Russia’s Moskva.

The BrahMos missile was first tested in 2001. Since then it has been upgraded several times. Almost all its tests have been successful and now it has become a part of the Indian Army as well. It can be launched from multiple platforms including land, sea and air. Seeing the many features of the missile, many other countries have also shown interest in buying it.

Features of BrahMos missile

The maximum speed of BrahMos missile is about 3700 kilometers per hour. Talking about the range, it can go up to about 450 kilometers. According to this, it can reach the enemy’s hideout in about 7 minutes and destroy it. This missile can carry weapons up to 300 kg. Not only this, it is known for its accuracy. It is designed to engage a variety of targets including ships, land-based targets and aircraft carriers.

Evolution of BrahMos Missile

In 1998, India and Russia signed an agreement to develop supersonic cruise missiles. Then in 2000 the BrahMos Aerospace joint venture was established between DRDO and NPO Mashinostroenia. In June 2001, the first test of BrahMos missile was done in the Bay of Bengal which was successful.

In 2004, the Indian Navy became the first buyer of the BrahMos missile system. This was followed in 2007 by the successful test-firing of an air-launched version of the BrahMos missile from a Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet of the Indian Air Force.

In 2010, the land attack version of the BrahMos missile was inducted into the Indian Army. After three years, the range of BrahMos missile was increased to 450 km. Then in 2017, the BrahMos missile was successfully test-fired from an Indian Navy ship, hitting its target at a range of over 400 km. In December 2021, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh laid the foundation stone of the Lucknow unit of BrahMos Aerospace to make the new generation BrahMos missile in Lucknow.

Technology in BrahMos missile

The BrahMos missile is equipped with advanced systems including GPS, navigation and radar homing. All these technologies make it one of the most dangerous missiles in the world. The missile uses a solid-propellant booster engine and a liquid-fuelled ramjet engine, which give it its supersonic speed and extended range.

The missile has been designed with advanced stealth system to avoid enemy radar systems. Which makes it difficult to detect and stop. The BrahMos missile uses a “fire and forget” system, which means that once it is launched towards its target, it requires no further guidance or input from the operator.

Which countries showed interest in BrahMos missile?

On 28 January 2022, BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd (BAPL) signed a $375 million deal with the Department of National Defense of the Philippines. BAPL had signed a deal to supply littoral anti-ship missile systems to the Philippines. the delivery of these missiles is to start this year.

Apart from Philippines, there are many other countries which have shown their interest in buying BrahMos missile. These countries include Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kenya, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria, etc.
