Army sources said on Wednesday that the Indian Army is working on military-grade 5G and 6G telecom apps as part of a big plan to meet the needs of future warfare and roll out key technologies that will make the army more efficient overall.
They also said that the Army is working hard to make military-grade software with AI-powered decision-making tools and predictive analytics in order to improve intelligence and operational effectiveness.
Together with the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the software and technologies are being made.
A source said, “The Indian Army has set up 5G labs, and the Military College of Telecommunication Engineering in Madhya Pradesh is set to be a 6G test bed.”
“Development of military-grade 5G and 6G applications is being done to meet the needs of future warfare,” the statement said.
The Military College of Telecommunication Engineering has become a center for AI study and growth, the sources said.
The institute is known for producing important new ideas, such as the situational awareness module for the army (SAMA) and advanced pattern recognition software for analyzing satellite images, they said.
They said that a number of steps have been taken to make sure that Army members have the most up-to-date skills in digital and cyber security.
At the National Science University (Gandhinagar), for example, there is training on digital video/image and CCTV forensics. At the National Informatics Centre (NIC), IT staff is also trained together.
Sources say that the Army-made software that can read the enemy’s Electronic Order of Battle (ORBAT) and spot patterns is now fully functional.
They said that the Indian Army’s expertise is being added to the security operations center 2.0, which is a big step toward better managing cyber threats because it shows how important cybersecurity really is.
These new, cutting-edge cybersecurity and cyber forensics tools make this move even more likely, they said.
Sources say that programs like the Pradhan Mantri Gati Shakti Yojana have taken into account the Army’s needs for logistics infrastructure. A source said, “This will make sure that mobilization in future wars is quick and that national infrastructure is used to make logistics supply more efficient.”
Sources say that the Indian Army has been praised many times for being one of the biggest users of the government e-Marketplace portal. They say that this shows how efficient and clear the procurement process can be.
They said that the Army’s healthcare system had gone digital with the help of “Dhanwantri” software, which linked more than 110 military hospitals to improve care.
Telemedicine services are being used to provide medical care to posts that are far away.
“The Human Resource Management Suite (HRMS) is working well to keep track of the paperwork for a large staff.” The source said, “ASAAN software made for problems with Agniveers has been put in place.”
