Army Chief Felicitates Tamil Nadu Jawan For Heroic Rescue Of Drowning Girl In Punjab Canal

Sepoy D. Navaneetha Krishnan, a soldier from Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district, saved a girl from drowning in a ditch in Punjab. On Wednesday, Army Chief Manoj Pande gave him a medal of honor for his bravery.

It was written that Krishnan did cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the girl because he was trained in basic first aid. This saved the girl’s life.

In a video message in Tamil, the soldier said he was so happy to get the award from the Army Chief and that he was giving it to his parents because they had worked so hard to help him get an education and get into the Army.

On December 11, 2018, Navaneethan signed up to be part of the Army Medical Corps. He is at a field hospital in Patiala, Punjab, at the moment.
