On Air Force Day, Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen Anil Chauhan sent their best wishes to air warriors and their families. Singh said that the IAF is now a “lethal and formidable force, projecting its air power beyond boundaries.”
In his message, Gen. Chauhan said that this important event marks “nearly a century of unwavering dedication and unparalleled service” by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to the country.
The legendary cricket player Sachin Tendulkar, who was made an honorary Group Captain in 2010, also met the IAF staff.
Tendulkar put up a video message on X in which he wore Air Force uniform.
“On the 91st anniversary of the Indian Air Force, I want to send my best wishes to all IAF members and their families.” In the video, he said, “I thank the Indian Air Force for giving me the chance to wear the blues.”
Tendulkar, who used to be leader of Team India, said that he wears the uniform with great pride and gratitude and loves being a part of the IAF.
“Every time I played for India and wore the blues, I felt the same way.” I want to thank all of you for your work on behalf of the whole country. Happy Air Force Day to everyone! Good luck landing. Oh Jai Hind!” In his short video message, Tendulkar said.
The Indian Air Force became a real organization on October 8, 1932. The force was given the word “Royal” in March 1945 because of how well it did its job and what it accomplished during World War II. The Royal Indian Air Force (RIAF) was born.
As India became a Republic in 1950, the IAF got rid of the “Royal” title and changed the ensign.
On Sunday, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal V R Chaudhari presented a new flag for the Indian Air Force (IAF). It replaces the old one, which was made more than 70 years ago.
At the 91st IAF Day events in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, the IAF Chief gave the new ensign to the air force.
With a post on X, Defense Minister Singh sent wishes.
Thank you to everyone in the Indian Air Force and their families on this special day, which marks the 91st anniversary of this amazing force. We are very proud of our #Airwarriors because they help keep India safe. The #IAF is now a deadly and powerful force that can spread its air power far and wide. His message read, “#AFDay2023 @IAF_MCC.”
“Nearly a century of unwavering dedication and unparalleled service of the IAF to the nation,” said CDS Gen Chauhan, who was in charge of the event.
“As we honor this important milestone, we also remember the brave people who gave their lives for our country.” “Generations of Indians are still inspired by their bravery, devotion, and courage,” he was quoted as saying in a release from the defense ministry.
“The IAF has played an important role in all wars fought by the country, undertaken punitive air strikes, extricated the Indian diaspora from conflict zones and provided relief through Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) missions within and beyond the borders,” said the statement.
The Indian Air Force has a long history of regularly and successfully taking part in air drills with friendly countries. It has shown that it can work with air forces around the world, which is a good sign that it can do its job well both in our local area and in our wider environment, the statement said.
With a dedication to modernization, innovation, and working together with other countries, the IAF is ready to face the difficulties of the 21st century. He said, “May the IAF always reach new heights of glory.”
