Sunday’s explosion at the Kabul military airport killed more than 10 people and seriously hurt eight others, according to Khaama Press, which quoted a Taliban Interior Ministry spokesperson.
On Sunday, there was an explosion at the entrance to a military airfield in the capital of Afghanistan. The explosion at the gate of the building next to Kabul’s international airport was not clear, said Abdul Nafy Takor, a spokesman for the interior ministry.
“A number of our countrymen have died or been hurt in the blast,” Takor said, adding that the government was looking into what happened.
Since the Taliban took power back in August 2021, they say that security has gotten better, but there have been dozens of bomb blasts and attacks, many of which were blamed on the local branch of the Islamic State group.
Last month, at least five Chinese people were hurt when gunmen broke into a hotel in Kabul that was often used by Chinese business people. IS took credit for the attack.
Since the Taliban came back to power, hundreds of people, including members of Afghanistan’s minority groups, have been killed or hurt in attacks.
