In a significant boost to India-UAE defence relations, Major General Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, Commander of the United Arab Emirates Land Forces, arrived in New Delhi on October 27, 2025, for a two-day official visit aimed at deepening military collaboration and exploring new areas of strategic cooperation.
The visit underscores the growing importance of the India-UAE partnership in regional security and defence innovation. General Al Hallami was accorded a ceremonial welcome on arrival and held discussions with senior Indian Army officials, focusing on joint training programs, defence technology exchange, and emerging security challenges in the Indo-Pacific and Middle East regions.
During his first day in India, the UAE commander was briefed on the operational capabilities of the Indian Army, including key indigenous initiatives that demonstrate India’s progress in self-reliance and modern warfare. He also visited the Army Design Bureau and interacted with officials from the Directorate General of Information Systems, who presented India’s advancements in artificial intelligence, cyber warfare preparedness, and digital defence integration.
General Al Hallami’s itinerary also includes a visit to the National War Memorial, where he will pay homage to India’s fallen soldiers, followed by meetings with representatives from the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and leading Indian defence manufacturers. These discussions are expected to pave the way for potential joint ventures, technology sharing, and defence production partnerships between the two nations.
India and the UAE have consistently enhanced their defence ties through joint exercises, high-level visits, and industrial collaboration. This latest engagement is seen as a continuation of that momentum – emphasizing mutual trust and shared objectives for peace, stability, and prosperity in the wider region.
