The Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) finished the first flight of India’s own fighter plane, the LCA Mark 1 A, on Thursday, March 28, in Bengaluru.
The first flight of the LCA Mark 1A fighter plane made in India was finished today in Bengaluru by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited.
During its first flight, the plane was in the air for more than 15 minutes.
The HAL is getting ready to give the Indian Air Force (IAF) the first Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Mark-1A by the end of this month.
The state-owned Defense Public Sector Undertaking is also trying to get the first two-seater trainer version of the plane to the government as soon as possible.
Reports say that the HAL is working hard to get the fighter jets to the IAF by March 31.
The arrival of the LCA MK1A plane would be a big boost for the indigenous fighter aircraft project, which would give the IAF a high-tech plane.
The IAF has already made a deal with HAL to buy 83 LCA planes. The deal is worth more than Rs 48,000 crore.
Apart from that, permission has been given to buy another 97 planes for a total of Rs 65,000 crore.
The HAL has already done tests on the ground, such as slow taxi runs, which made it possible for the plane to take off.
The LCA Mark 1 versions were first added to the IAF in 2016. The 45 Squadron and the 18 Squadron were the first units to use these homegrown jets.
The IAF is trying to update its fleet and replace old MiG-series planes, so the choice to buy more LCAs is very important at this time.
Adding the LCA, which is known for being quick and having advanced features, is seen as a smart move to keep the IAF ahead of the competition in the area.
