On Monday, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) successfully delivered to the Indian Army the indigenously developed Quick Reaction Fighting Vehicle-Medium (QRFV).
The TASL tweeted, “TASL has successfully delivered the QRFV to the Indian Army.”
It went on to say that the introduction of this vehicle would improve the Indian Army’s operational capabilities in future conflicts.
“The introduction of this vehicle developed by TASL would significantly improve the Indian Army’s operational capabilities in future conflicts,” it added.
Earlier in the day, Defence Minister Ajay Bhatt stated that the BJP-led government in the Centre has taken several policy initiatives and implemented reforms to encourage indigenous design, development, and manufacture of defence equipment in the country, thereby expanding indigenous defence equipment production.
In a written reply to Rajya Sabha, the MoS stated that the Centre’s initiatives to encourage the production of indigenous defence equipment have resulted in a reduction in defence procurement from foreign sources from 46 percent of total expenditure to 36 percent over the last four years — 2018-19 to 2021-22.
General MM Naravane, Chief of Army Staff, inducted the first batch of QRFV in April. According to a defence release, the Army Chief inducted the QRFV, Infantry Protected Mobility Vehicle (IPMV), TASL’s Ultra Long Range Observation System, and Bharat Forge’s Monocoque Hull Multi-Role Mine-Protected Armoured Vehicle.
