Sanjeev Kishore, a 1985 batch officer of the Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS), has taken over as director general ordnance (C&S), according to a release from the Ministry of Defence.
Kishore took over the new position on October 1, 2022. He took over for M K Garg.
Kishore was the associate director general ordnance at the Directorate of Ordnance (Coordination & Services) in Kolkata before taking over as DGO (C &S), according to the ministry.
Kishore has held a number of key posts, including that of the inaugural Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Armoured Vehicles Nigam Ltd (AVNL), one of seven new DPSUs established by the Government of India in 2021. He oversaw the successful transition of an armoured group of manufacturers from a government agency to a company. Under his supervision, AVNL made a profit in its first six months of operation.
Kishore served as Senior General Manager of Heavy Vehicles Factory (HVF) Avadi and General Manager of Opto Electronics Factory (OLF) Dehradun prior to his appointment as CMD.
Kishore has worked in a variety of professions and technology areas. According to the statement, he received the Santu Sahaney Memorial Shield and the Ayudh Bhushan award for his exceptional achievements in improving defence production.
