Russian Drone Strike on Ukraine Railway Station Kills 13, Injures 10

A deadly Russian drone attack on a railway station in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro has claimed at least 13 lives and left 10 people injured, according to Ukrainian officials. The attack took place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, when a jet-powered drone struck a railway platform where passenger trains were standing.

The incident occurred as passengers were waiting at the station, including people preparing to board a train travelling from Dnipro to the nearby city of Zaporizhzhia. Ukraine’s state railway operator, Ukrzaliznytsia, confirmed that the drone hit a platform where train number 866 was present. Another passenger service was also standing at the station when the attack happened.

Regional Governor Oleksandr Hanzha confirmed that 13 people had been killed in the Russian attack, while 10 others sustained injuries. Emergency responders, medical personnel and law enforcement teams were deployed to the location to assist the injured and manage the aftermath of the strike.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a horrific attack. He said Russian forces had targeted a railway platform where a regular commuter train and a passenger train were present. Zelenskyy also called for stronger international action against Moscow, arguing that sanctions against Russia should not be eased while the war continues.

The head of Ukrainian Railways, Oleksandr Pertsovsky, said that an elevated security warning had been issued before the incident. However, a large number of passengers were still present on the platform when the drone struck. The railway operator and emergency services responded to the situation following the attack.

The incident highlights the continuing security risks facing Ukraine’s railway network, which remains an essential mode of transportation for civilians across the country. Railway stations, trains and related infrastructure have faced repeated threats from Russian drone and missile attacks since the beginning of the full-scale invasion in February 2022.

According to reports, thousands of train services in Ukraine have previously faced evacuations or security disruptions because of drone threats. The latest attack in Dnipro has once again raised concerns about the safety of civilian passengers and the vulnerability of critical transport infrastructure during the ongoing conflict.

The deadly strike comes amid continued military escalation between Russia and Ukraine, even as diplomatic efforts to revive peace negotiations remain under discussion. The attack has renewed calls from Ukrainian leadership for stronger international support and measures to prevent further strikes against civilian areas.
