The investigation into the car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort has taken a wider turn as authorities trace links from the Faridabad terror module to Maharashtra. Law enforcement officials say the terror cell, reportedly led by medical professionals, is highly organized and may have operatives spanning multiple states.
On 10 November 2025, a Hyundai i20 parked near the Red Fort Metro station detonated, causing panic and multiple injuries. The vehicle had reportedly been stationary for about three hours before the explosion, which investigators believe may have been triggered prematurely.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Delhi Police have linked the car and its occupants to a sophisticated terror module based in Faridabad, Haryana. In addition to the explosive material recovered, authorities are examining potential cross-state networks.
At the center of the probe are several doctors allegedly involved in terror activities:
Dr Umar Nabi, a Jammu & Kashmir-based doctor, suspected of driving the car at the time of the blast.
Dr Muzammil Ganaie from Faridabad, arrested for his role in logistics and storage of explosives.
Dr Shaheen Sayeed, reportedly based in Lucknow, is believed to have managed recruitment and coordination within the network. Investigators have also found that Dr Sayeed was previously married to a man from Maharashtra, prompting police to examine potential links and accomplices in that state.
Officials note that this case represents a new dimension of “white-collar terror,” where individuals in respected professions are exploited to execute covert terror operations.
The NIA has officially taken over the investigation, filing an FIR under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) alongside charges under explosives and terror-related laws. Authorities are analyzing mobile data, CCTV footage, and DNA evidence to map the full network.
Security has been tightened across Delhi, particularly near monuments and crowded public areas. Officials have urged citizens to remain vigilant while authorities continue to track any cross-state connections, including Maharashtra.
