Army ALH Dhruv Helicopters Fleet Resume Operations

Some of the Indian Army’s ALH Dhruv helicopters are back in service after being grounded for more than 10 days, Indian Army officials said on Tuesday.

Officials from the Army also said that after the technician teams, which include HAL employees, check the rest of the fleet, it will be safe to use. This month, an Indian Navy Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) was on a routine mission off the coast of Mumbai when it suddenly lost power and quickly fell out of the sky. It had to make an emergency landing.

The Indian Navy says that the pilot did a controlled ditching (an emergency landing on water). The helicopter’s three crew members were saved by a naval patrol boat after a quick search and rescue. Because of this, the defence forces have stopped using the ALH Dhruv helicopters until investigators figure out what went wrong and safety checks are done.

The Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Indian Coast Guard all use ALH choppers. The Indian military uses ALH Dhruv helicopters for many things, including moving people and supplies. The ALH Dhruv has become an important part of the missions that all three forces do with helicopters in the different places they are sent.
