Pakistan has issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) and placed its air and naval forces on high alert following the recent explosion reported in Delhi. The move has sparked concerns of potential regional tension amid heightened security along the Indo-Pak border.
According to defence sources, the NOTAM restricts certain air routes and warns of military activities in designated zones. Pakistan’s Air Force bases have reportedly intensified operational readiness, while the Navy has deployed additional patrols to secure maritime boundaries.
Officials in Islamabad described the measure as “precautionary,” emphasizing that the alert is intended to safeguard national security amid “unverified cross-border developments.” However, strategic observers note that such rapid escalation in readiness typically reflects both defensive preparedness and strategic messaging to neighbouring India.
The Delhi blast, which remains under investigation by Indian authorities, has triggered multiple layers of security review across the region. Indian agencies are yet to confirm the motive or source of the explosion, though preliminary assessments suggest localised impact without widespread damage.
Regional analysts believe Pakistan’s swift military posture aims to prevent miscalculations and assert deterrence. “It’s a signalling move – a way of showing readiness while avoiding direct confrontation,” said a South Asia defence analyst. “However, such alerts can easily be misread, increasing the risk of escalation.”
Diplomatic backchannels between New Delhi and Islamabad are reportedly active, with both nations monitoring the situation closely. International observers, including the United Nations and neighbouring allies, have urged restraint and transparency to prevent tensions from spiralling.
