Director General of Police Dilbagh Singh told the ultras on Tuesday that they should stop being violent and join the mainstream. In 2023, only 10 local kids joined militant groups in Jammu and Kashmir, down from 110 the previous year. Singh told media after visiting the Mata Badrakali Temple in Handwara in the Kupwara district that militancy in Jammu and Kashmir was “almost finished” and that its “remnants” would be gone soon.
“This year, only 10 young people from the area have joined the militants.” Last year, 110 of them turned into extremists. Even though there are 10, six of them have already been killed and the other four will also be killed. It would have been better if no one joined.
“They should leave the path of violence and come back,” he stated.
Singh said that terrorists have families too, and that killing people like this doesn’t make the police happy.
“I also want to say that we’re not happy that militants have died.” They’re also part of a family. “If someone has turned away from peace, we want them to come back and drop their weapons so they can live a normal life,” he said.
It’s been five years since the DGP said that things have changed a lot in Jammu and Kashmir.
It was a disaster for the whole of Jammu and Kashmir, but the insurgency is almost over, and whatever is left will be put down soon.
“There is no longer any fear in the air, and people of all ages can move around freely.” “Today is a happy and peaceful time,” he said.
He also said, “There is no active militant but there are a few radicals who keep moving from one place to another.” North Kashmir is almost completely free of militancy, he said. They will also be wiped out.”
