In an effort to enhance both India’s defense and civilian security capabilities, the Mahindra Group has formed a strategic alliance with Sentrycs Ltd., an Israeli company. Through a Non-Binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two companies will collaborate on developing advanced anti-drone solutions within the nation.
This partnership is in line with the Indian government’s ‘Make in India’ campaign, which emphasizes technology transfer and local production of radio frequency-based counter-drone systems. These advanced systems have the ability to detect, track, identify, and disable unauthorized drones, providing increased security for both civilian structures and military resources.
Vinod Sahay, President of Mahindra’s Aerospace & Defence Sector, highlighted the MoU’s importance in strengthening our country’s security. He expressed pride in our contribution to national protection and shared excitement about the possibilities this partnership with Sentrycs brings. It will expand our anti-drone capabilities, aligning perfectly with the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
Reiterating this shared belief, Yoav Zaltzman, the CEO of Sentrycs, emphasized the significance of the Indian market and the increasing danger of drones in contemporary warfare. He stated that their partnership with Mahindra will introduce a versatile anti-drone solution specifically designed for the diverse terrain of India.
The suggested anti-drone technology features an independent command and control (C2) unit that not only tracks the paths of drones but also recognizes their distinct models, serial numbers, and IDs. This function is essential in differentiating between friendly and hostile drones. In the event of a potential threat, the system can take over the drone’s controls and direct it to a designated landing spot, significantly reducing the risk of harm.
This collaboration represents a major advancement in the production of cutting-edge counter-drone systems within India. These technologies are crucial for protecting the country’s vital infrastructure and military resources.
