Israel Warns Hamas to Surrender or Face Gaza City Assault as Militants Signal Deal Readiness

Tel Aviv rejects Hamas’s ceasefire offer, preparing for an intensified push into Gaza City amid global concern.

September 4, 2025 – Tensions in the Middle East escalated further as Israel issued a stark warning to Hamas: lay down arms and accept Israeli terms, or Gaza City will face devastating military action.

Israeli leaders dismissed Hamas’s recent overture, in which the group claimed willingness to release hostages in exchange for a ceasefire and reconstruction plan. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the proposal as “a ploy,” reaffirming that only total surrender and disarmament would bring an end to the conflict.

Hamas Floats Peace Proposal
Earlier this week, Hamas stated it was prepared to negotiate a sweeping deal that included releasing all Israeli captives, reopening border crossings, and establishing a neutral administration to govern Gaza. In return, the group demanded a halt to Israeli operations and support for rebuilding the enclave.

Military Operations Intensify
Despite the announcement, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have expanded their ground offensive, with thousands of reservists deployed and fresh incursions reported around Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighborhood. Israeli drones have been broadcasting evacuation instructions as forces edge closer to the city’s core.

Humanitarian Crisis Deepens
The latest escalation has further strained Gaza’s already dire humanitarian situation. Aid agencies warn of acute shortages of food, medicine, and safe shelter. The United Nations has cautioned that unchecked urban warfare could push the civilian population into famine and mass displacement.

Global Response Divided
While Washington has voiced continued backing for Israel’s right to pursue Hamas militarily, European and Arab leaders are urging restraint, warning that the destruction of Gaza City could trigger an even broader regional crisis. Calls for an internationally mediated ceasefire have intensified, but no breakthrough appears imminent.
