Defense intelligence agencies told formations in a strong way to make sure that the troops aren’t using Chinese cell phones. This is happening while the military standoff with China on the Line of Actual Control (LOAC) is still going on (LoC).
The defence intelligence agencies put out an advisory that said, “Formations and units should warn their employees in different ways to be careful with these (Chinese) mobile phone devices.”
According to the advisory, the military spy agencies asked the formations to “discourage troops and their families from buying or using phones from countries that are hostile to India.”
Spyware, malware found in Chinese-origin mobile phones
The advisory has been sent out because, according to sources, spyware and malware have been found in mobile phones made in China.
The advisory says that spy agencies have told units and formations to “carry out the transition to other phones against the phones.”
Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi, One Plus, Honor, Real Me, ZTE, Gionee, ASUS, and Infinix are all Chinese phones that can be bought on the open market in India.
Military spy agencies active against Chinese mobile applications
In the past, Chinese mobile phone apps were closely watched and dealt with by the military spy agencies. Many Chinese apps were also removed from the phones of military personnel.
The defence forces have also stopped people from using Chinese cell phones and apps.
Since March-April 2020, India and China have been in a military standoff, and they have both put a lot of troops on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) from Eastern Ladakh to Arunachal Pradesh.
