Daljinder Singh, the coxswain of the fifth Kalvari submarine INS Vagir, said on Saturday that the submarine is ready to face any threat if India and China go to war. This was said before the submarine was officially put into service.
On January 23, 2023, the Indian Navy will start using Vagir, the fifth submarine in the Kalvari class. This will make the navy stronger.
The Indian Navy’s newest piece of tech is this submarine. The submarine is quiet. It has good weapons against submarines, like mines that are more advanced. It has more advanced versions of combat systems, sonar systems, and radar systems.
“Everything in the submarine is made in India. “We are ready to fight if there is a war between India and China,” Singh said.
While Commanding Officer CDR Divakar S said, “The INS Vagir can be used both near the coast and in the middle of the ocean.” It will be ready to meet all the Navy’s and the country’s needs. It is a big step toward becoming Atmanirbhar Bharat. This is the fifth sub from the Kalvari class.”
“It’s a source of pride that MDL (Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited) built the whole Vagir and that the Indian Navy was in charge of it. “The Navy and MDL worked together on most of the tests,” he said.
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited in Mumbai, India, built the INS Vagir. The Chief of the Naval Staff, Adm. R. Hari Kumar, will be the Chief Guest at the ceremony.
The Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai, India, is building these submarines with help from the French Naval Group.
The Indian Navy has already put into service four submarines from the Kalvari class.
The old “Vagir” was put into service on November 1, 1973, and it went on many operational missions, including patrols meant to scare off enemies.
After about 30 years of service, the submarine was taken out of service on January 7, 2001.
The submarine will be launched on November 12, 2020, and given the name “Vagir.” In its new form, it has the lowest build time of any submarine made in India to date.
The “Vagir” went out on the water for the first time in February 2022. This marked the start of sea trials. Before being commissioned, the ship went through a series of thorough acceptance checks and demanding sea trials.
The sub was given to the Indian Navy on December 20, 2022, by MDL.
“Vagir” will make it easier for the Indian Navy to protect India’s maritime interests. It can do things like anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, intelligence gathering, laying mines, and surveillance missions.
“The Sand Shark” (Vagir) stands for “Stealth and Fearlessness,” which are two things that a submariner is known for.
The Indian Navy is getting stronger as a builder’s navy, and the Vagir is another step in that direction. It also shows that MDL is a top ship and submarine building yard.
