Indian Army To Get 2 Air Defence Systems To Fight Enemy Aircraft And Drones

The Indian Army is going to add two different kinds of very short range air defence systems to help it fight China in the high-altitude mountains.

The defence ministry gave the Army permission to buy a short-range air defence system to protect the Indo-China border from enemy planes and drones.

The first type of Very Short Air Defence System will be fired from the shoulder. It will be made as part of the “Make in India” programme, which encourages foreign companies to work with Indian companies. The French company Thales, the Indian company Bharat Dynamics Limited, and the Swedish company Saab could all take part in this competition.

The system will be on a tripod and was made by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO). It was made with the help of its development-to-production partner model and will have a lot of help from the private sector.
