This partnership represents a substantial advancement in the Army’s capacity to conduct rescue and survival operations in mountainous regions. The TMR will offer Army instructors tailor-made training programs in order to improve their capacity to instruct troops on avalanche rescue and survival techniques, as stipulated in the MoU.
Sachdev disclosed that together with the Army, 15 TMR teams are currently stationed in a variety of regions. He underscored the substantial number of lives that were saved by the TMR rescue teams in avalanche-prone regions.
This most recent initiative expands upon the initial partnership that was established with the Northern Army Command in 2016, which introduced the TMR’s dedicated avalanche and rescue support. This collaboration was further enhanced by subsequent agreements with the Eastern Army Command and the Central Army Command in 2021 and 2024, respectively.
