In a major step towards improving border security and military readiness in the Northeast, the Indian Army has inaugurated a new military station in Assam’s Dhubri district, one of the closest points to the India-Bangladesh border. The establishment of this base marks a significant milestone in India’s efforts to enhance defence infrastructure and surveillance capabilities along its eastern frontier.
Located strategically along the Brahmaputra River, the Dhubri Military Station is expected to play a crucial role in improving response time and coordination between different security forces deployed in the region. The new base will serve as a hub for quick troop deployment and logistics support in case of border emergencies, infiltration attempts, or natural disasters.
Officials from the Eastern Command highlighted that this initiative aligns with the Army’s broader vision of strengthening operational efficiency and ensuring better synergy with the Border Security Force (BSF), which guards the international boundary in the area. The station will also facilitate advanced monitoring systems and communication networks, ensuring seamless coordination across the Northeast’s sensitive border zones.
The Dhubri region, known for its proximity to Bangladesh and its challenging riverine terrain, has long been a focus area for India’s defence and border management strategy. The newly launched Army establishment not only addresses security priorities but is also expected to bring indirect economic benefits to the local community through development of infrastructure and services.
With the commissioning of this new military station, the Indian Army continues its push to modernize border defence and reinforce its presence in strategically important locations. The development demonstrates India’s long-term commitment to ensuring peace, stability, and robust national security across its eastern borders.
