Both India and Vietnam have chosen to strengthen their ties with each other even more. They both have economic and security interests in common, and they both want to stop China from being a bully in the region.
India and Vietnam will now strengthen their shared efforts and current frameworks in areas like marine scientific research, Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR), maritime connectivity, maritime security, maritime law enforcement, and capacity building.
This will mean that the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard will work together more with their peers in Vietnam.
Wednesday was the 3rd India-Vietnam Maritime Security Dialogue. It was place in New Delhi, which is the national capital. According to a statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday, the Indian delegation was led by Muanpuii Saiawi, Joint Secretary (Disarmament and International Security Affairs), Ministry of External Affairs, and the Vietnamese delegation was led by Ambassador Trinh Duc Hai, Vice Chairman, National Boundary Commission.
The teams were made up of high-ranking officials from each country’s maritime ministries and services.
During the conversation, the two sides talked about how to keep a safe maritime environment that supports growth for everyone and world well-being. They talked about how they are already working together in the maritime domain and how they can strengthen international and regional systems for overall maritime security.
India and Vietnam also talked about how to keep the seas safe and help both countries grow in a way that benefits everyone.
“The third India-Vietnam maritime security dialogue took place today in New Delhi. Arindam Bagchi, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of External issues, wrote on Wednesday, “The Dialogue was attended by senior officials from the Ministries and Services that deal with maritime affairs.”
“Also looked at initiatives for maritime cooperation and ways to strengthen international and regional mechanisms for overall maritime security,” Bagchi said.
The first India-Vietnam Maritime Security Dialogue was held in March 2019 in Hanoi, and the second was held online in April 2021.
“On April 6, 2021, India and Vietnam held a virtual meeting to talk about marine security for the second time. “During the consultations, the two countries talked about new developments in maritime security, regional cooperation activities, and ways they could work together,” the MEA said in a statement.
India and Vietnam get along well and are good friends. Recently, at the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Vietnamese partner Pham Minh Chinh had a private conversation.
Both leaders talked about how their countries work together, especially in the area of defense.
“Narendra Modi and Pham Minh Chinh met in Hiroshima to talk. The Prime Minister’s Office tweeted, “They talked about different parts of India and Vietnam’s friendship, especially in areas like energy, technology, business, and defense.”
