The US is actively talking with the Indian government about making military systems, especially in the areas of intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and conventional ground-based fighting.
Both governments are also working to sign a defense agreement that will help make the supply system for making weapons in both countries more efficient.
“We are actively talking with the Indian government about making military tools for ISR and, of course, traditional ground-based warfare. Siddharth Iyer, who works in the office of the US Secretary of Defense and is in charge of South Asia policy, said, “We’ll have more to say about this as the facts come out.”
He talked about how India and the US are getting closer to making a deal on a security of supply plan, which will make it easier for defense companies to meet each other’s needs.
Iyer said that the relationship between the US and India is one of the Pentagon’s top priorities and emphasized how important it is to the US strategy in the Indo-Pacific area.
“We think that getting the relationship between the US and India right is not just important, but vital to our strategy in the Indo-Pacific. “There is a strong and widespread desire to make this happen,” he said.
He talked about Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin’s promise to speed up India’s military modernization and brought up the joint defense road map, which shows the top military areas where the two countries should work together.
The road map also shows how to integrate supply chains and set up control to make sure that bureaucratic problems don’t slow down progress.
Iyer talked about how important the GE engine deal was and how closely governments and businesses work together to improve technology security and strategic goals.
The deal gives India access to sensitive jet engine technology and is seen as a big step forward in defense relations between the US and India.
Iyer said, “I think we’ll make progress on a number of different fronts in the coming months.”
