India has once again asserted its uncompromising stance on terrorism as Defence Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the Defence Ministers’ meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Representing India at the high-level gathering, he emphasized that terrorism remains one of the gravest threats to global peace and stability.
In his address, Singh highlighted that there can be no justification for acts of terror under any circumstances. He urged SCO member states to adopt a consistent and collective approach in tackling terrorism, stressing that countries must not differentiate between “good” and “bad” terrorists. According to him, such distinctions only weaken global efforts to combat extremist ideologies.
The meeting, held in Bishkek, brought together defence leaders from across the region to deliberate on pressing security challenges. Key topics included regional stability, military cooperation, and coordinated counter-terrorism strategies. India used the platform to advocate stronger intelligence sharing and joint efforts to dismantle terror networks.
Singh also pointed out that emerging threats such as radicalization, cyber-enabled terrorism, and the misuse of technology by extremist groups require urgent international attention. He emphasized that a proactive and united response is necessary to address these evolving challenges effectively.
On the sidelines of the meeting, India is expected to strengthen defence and strategic ties with participating nations through bilateral discussions. These engagements reflect India’s broader effort to enhance cooperation in defence and security while promoting peace in the region.
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation continues to play a significant role in shaping regional security dynamics. India’s strong message at the forum underscores its commitment to combating terrorism globally and maintaining stability through collective action.
