India and Israel have taken another major step in their expanding strategic partnership by signing a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) focused on defence innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and cybersecurity. The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in emerging technologies and boost joint defence research and development.
The MoU was signed during the India-Israel Joint Working Group on Defence Cooperation meeting held in Tel Aviv, co-chaired by Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh from India and Major General (Retd) Amir Baram, Director General of Israel’s Ministry of Defence. The pact seeks to create a roadmap for greater collaboration in cutting-edge technology, including AI-based defence systems, secure digital infrastructure, and cyber defence capabilities.
Officials stated that the new agreement reflects the shared vision of both nations to strengthen innovation-led defence cooperation and support technology-driven security systems. The collaboration will include joint development projects, technology transfer, industry partnerships, and talent exchange programs between research and defence institutions.
Over the years, India and Israel have built a robust defence relationship – with Israel supplying India with advanced radar systems, drones, precision weapons, and border surveillance technology. This latest pact expands the partnership beyond traditional military equipment into the realm of intelligent systems and cyber resilience, key areas for modern warfare.
Defence experts believe the move aligns with India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India) initiative, as it encourages domestic innovation and joint production while leveraging Israel’s proven expertise in defence technologies. The pact is also expected to lead to collaborative R&D efforts, benefiting both nations’ armed forces and defence industries.
The agreement comes at a time when both countries are focusing on next-generation security challenges, including cyber threats, AI-based warfare, and digital intelligence operations. It underscores a mutual commitment to safeguard national and regional security through technological strength and shared innovation.
With the signing of this MoU, India and Israel have reaffirmed their position as trusted strategic partners, setting the stage for a new era of defence cooperation built on innovation, resilience, and mutual technological advancement.
