India and the Maldives held their 4th Defense Cooperation Dialogue (DCD) in Male on Sunday. They talked about all of their joint military activities and agreed to make the exercises more difficult.
Defense Secretary Giridhar Aramane and his Maldivian counterpart, Chief of Defense Force, Maldives National Defense Forces Major General Abdulla Shamaal, were in charge of the conversation.
This DCD is the most official way for the two countries to talk to each other. The fact that both countries put a lot of weight on the talks shows how important it was for setting the future course of relations between their Armed Forces.
During the meeting, ongoing activities for defence cooperation between the two countries were talked about, and both sides were happy with how things were going. The talks were about the current bilateral exercises, and both countries agreed to make these drills harder. The armed forces of India and the Maldives are still looking for ways to work together, and the fact that they are doing this more is a good sign for the future of their relationship.
Giridhar Aramane thanked Major General Abdulla Shamaal and his group for a productive conversation and said that India is looking forward to more talks based on what was agreed upon at the 4th DCD.
During his trip to the Maldives, the Defense Secretary also met with Ms. Mariya Ahmed Didi, the Minister of Defense, and Mr. Abdulla Shahid, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
