A top IAF official said that the Indian Air Force has taken all the necessary steps to protect itself from drones coming from across the border in Jammu, India. The IAF is also ready for any situation that might come up.
The source also said that the IAF’s operations in the area have been mostly successful.
When asked about drone threats, Air Officer Commanding (AoC) Jammu, Air Commodore S. S. Rawat told reporters, “See, we are ready for anything, and all measures are in place.”
We asked Rawat how often the IAF’s surveillance tactics work and he said that most of the time they do. Rawat also said that the IAF is sent to these kinds of tasks to work with the Army.
The AoC said that the government and security forces are doing their best to deal with the flash rains in Sikkim. “Everything that can be done is being done.” “We feel sorry for them,” he said.
One more official said that the IAF has taught its members to do these kinds of rescue and relief missions. He said that AoC has the power to do any action like that.
So far, 14 bodies have been found, but 102 people are still missing, including 22 soldiers. The flash flood in the Teesta river valley was caused by a cloudburst over Lhonak Lake in North Sikkim.
