On Monday, the Chief of Greece’s National Defense General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, received the Guard of Honor at the South Block Lawns in Delhi.
General Dimitrios Choupis had already paid his respects to the soldiers who died by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial in Delhi.
Besides that, he signed the guest book at the war memorial. Earlier in the day, General Dimitrios Choupis was received in Delhi by Aliki Koutsomitopoulou, who is the Greek ambassador to India.
In an X post, the Greek Embassy in India said, “Ambassador of @GreeceinIndia
During her visit to India, Ms. A. Koutsomitopoulou was happy to meet General D. Choupis, who is the Chief of the National Defense General Staff.
There was a two-day State visit to India for Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in early February. He landed in Delhi. His wife, Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis, was with him.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the two agreed to work together more on defense, trade, and connecting the two countries.
“Meeting with PM @kmitsotakis earlier today went well. We talked about important things like technology, drugs, skill building, space, and new ideas. In a post on X, PM Modi said, “We also agreed to work together more on things like shipping, connectivity, and defense.”
He also met S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, while he was in India. In a very important way, this was the first meeting between a Greek Head of State or Head of Government and an Indian Head of Government in 15 years. The last time a Greek Prime Minister visited India was in 2008.
On August 25, 2016, PM Modi went to Athens. The Ministry of External Affairs says that during PM Modi’s trip to Greece in August 2023, the relationship between India and Greece was raised to a “Strategic Partnership.”
